WHAT TO EXPECT

What You and Your Child Can Expect
A Typical Afternoon at the Perrysburg Kumon Center

When you take your child to the Kumon Center in Perrysburg, they follow a simple routine that usually takes about 30 minutes per subject.

Checking in at the Center
Upon arrival, your child will stop and collect their Kumon folder in the vestibule, prior to entering the classroom.  Folders are filled in advance by Instructors with the Worksheets to be completed that afternoon and new homework.  Your child will stop at the check in/checkout desk and hand in the work they completed at home since their last visit to the Center.   If your child had problems with the homework, they are addressed during this Center visit.  Homework results are recorded and kept on file.

Students sign in and are directed to a particular instructor to work with.

Completing Assigned Worksheets
Kumon does not replicate a classroom model, so students come and go as they complete their assignments. On any given day, your child is likely to be working on material that no one else has been assigned because the program is completely individualized to their needs.

Grading, Feedback and Goal Setting
Worksheets are graded immediately after your child completes them. With the work fresh in their mind, your child meets with their Instructor to review corrections and discuss progress. The process of feedback and goal setting between your child and the Instructor is vital to meeting their unique learning needs.

Homework
Your child will then receive appropriate homework to be completed by their next visit to the Perrysburg Kumon Center. Homework assignments must be completed at home and parents are asked to grade them (answer books are provided). This work is just as important as what takes place at the Center.
